Soft Lowers are designed to slide over your existing full size engine guard. They provide added protection against rain and cold. They can also make a long trip much more comfortable by cutting down on the wind. They are a great temporary solution if you do not like the look or style of full lower fairings, like you would find on an Ultra Limited. It is a really simple product, but one that every serious rider should own.

HogWorkz has been in the motorcycle accessory business for quite some time and is known for making a quality and affordable product. The HogWorkz Soft Lowers are no exception. They are designed to slide over a full size engine guard. If you have a chopped engine guard, you would need to swap to a full size to make soft (or any) lower work. There is a strap that buckles around the frame of the bike to secure the lowers. I really like that the HogWorkz Soft Lowers have a cover that goes under the strap to prevent the strap from wearing the powder coat on the frame.
You can still use your Highway pegs with HogWorkz Soft Lowers. There is a double zipper that allows you to zip right up to your peg location. You also pick up some extra storage with the zippered pocket on the inside of the lowers.
When doing a long distance ride, rider fatigue is one of the biggest safety concerns. This fatigue is usually caused by constantly fighting the wind. The Soft Lowers, in combination with a fairing or windshield, does a great job of cutting down on this wind, allowing you ride lay more miles down in a day. There is no substitute for a great Rain Suit, but the HogWorkz Soft Lowers, do help block quite a bit of water when riding in the rain.
Where the Soft Lowers really shine is when it is cold. Obviouisly, they block the chilling wind from your feet and legs. The biggest advantage though is the ability to retain the heat from the engine. With less wind blowing by the engine, more heat stays right around your legs, which is very welcome on a winter ride.
