Gloves are an important part of your riding gear, regardless of the temperature outside. Gloves provide an extra layer of protection not just from the weather, but from the road and harsh vibrations of the motorcycle. I recommend having a nice pair of All Season Riding Gloves. All season gloves, aren't really all season. These are gloves that you would wear during spring and fall, or at night during warmer months. In the heat of summer, I would recommend finglerless gloves and in the winter months, you should have a pair of cold weather gloves. All season doesn't mean all weather.
All season riding gloves provide are usually uninsulated or have minimal insulation. They provide abrasion protection and in many cases impact protection in the form of knuckle guards. Tobacco Motorwear is known for making great quality motorcycle apparel with a classic old school look. The Tobacco Rough Ups are no exception to that rule. That is why they are one of the products I recommend for a quality pair of all season riding gloves. I have worked with leather for years. I make holsters, wallets and motorcycle gear. I understand better than most the importance and benefits of quality leather.
In the early days of the sport of motorcycling, work gloves were common place. For a long time, work gloves were the preferred style of bikers. The Rough Ups hold true to that heritage. These rustic work glove style riding gloves are packed full of quality features. They honor the heritage of motorcycling while looking forward with the quality, safety, and technology features we expect today.
There is a lot to love about the Rough Ups. There are two reasons to put these gloves at the top of your list. First, they are made from full grain cowhide. A lot of riding gloves use a lot of vinyl or pleather (fake leather). A pair of real leather gloves will form and shape to your hand and has a level of comfort and feel that can not be imitated. The second reason is they use Knox® knuckle armor. Now, a lot of gloves have knuckle armor. It is usually the ugly plastic that you see on the top knuckle portion of riding gloves. On the Rough Ups, the knuckle armor is covered by leather. In my opinion, it looks way better than the ugly plastic. You get the best of both worlds, with a glove that offers the protection you should have in a great pair of riding gloves without having the sacrifice the style.
If quality leather and stylish knuckle protection were not enough, the Rough Ups have a lot more to offer. Over the knuckles and on the palm, the Rough Ups use what is called a rough out. Rough out means that the flesh side of the leather faces out. Think suede. It offers a uniqueness to the style of the glove, as rough out portions really stand out and contrast against the smooth texture of the leather. It also provides better grip on the palm sections of the gloves. You also have touch screen pads on the index and thumb to allow you to use your phone or touch screen without having to remove the gloves.
The Rough Ups also feature a Velcro closure at the wrist paired with a sewn in elastic cuff. The closure makes it easy put the gloves on or remove them. It also makes it easy to adjust the gloves to the tightness that you prefer. Pre-curved fingers should be a must have in any riding glove. It makes them way more comfortable when gripping the throttle.
Most of the outer surface of the leather is perforated, which makes the Rough Ups very breathable and comfortable. The air flow from the perforations makes the cool enough for a warmer day while still providing enough warmth for when the sun goes down. If you are looking for a classic style riding glove that can be warn in cooler weather and warmer weather alike, the Rough Ups may be the perfect choice for you.
The Rough Ups are offered in three different color options. You can choose between Darksides, Sunnysides, or Lightsides. You can purchase the Rough Ups directly from Tobacco Motorwear. Click on our links to check out the most up to date pricing and availability.
The Sunnyside offers a style that stands out from the crowd. The color of these gloves stays true to the work glove history of motorcycle riding gloves.
The Darksides offer a black leather with dark brown rough out on the palm and knuckles. They pair great with the traditional black leather of most modern riding gear.
The Lightsides have a very bespoke feel about them in a natural leather tone. They have a traditional old school and vitage look about them that I love.
