Motorcycle Luggage - Saddlemen BR3400 Tactical Sissy Bar Bag
Saddlemen has been in the motorcycle business making seats and luggage since 1987. Needless to say they have learned a thing or two along the way. Saddlemen is an American company based in California. The BR3400 Tactical Sissy Bar Bag, is a great example of the quality products they offer. The tactical look of this bag looks at home on most any cruiser or touring bike, but also adds functionality with the MOLLE attachment points. This allows you to attach other bags and accessories to your Saddlemen Bag. Anything from small pouches to water bottle holders can be added and securely attached.
The BR3400 Tactical Sissy Bar Bag can be mounted on a luggage rack, a rear seat or sissy bar. It comes with all the necessary straps to mount the bag to your bike. There are several ways to mount this bag. First, it comes with a seat harness. The seat harness goes under your passenger seat and provides anchor points to attach the bag using the included straps. You can also use the same straps to mount the bag to a luggage rack. Be sure to check weight limits on your luggage rack. Finally, you can slide the adjustable sissy bar strap over your sissy bar to quickly and easily attach the bag. Personally, I would recommend using both the included straps and the sissy bar strap, either on your rear seat or the luggage rack. Just like loading a bike on a trailer, you will want to test and make sure everything is secure after you have rode a few miles and every time you stop, as things can shift and settle. That's just my paranoid advice.
When it comes to space, this bag has plenty of it. There are tons of convenient pockets to store and organize your gear. Most notable are two large compartments. These compartments are great for several changes of clothes, but also large enough to store a full face helmet. There is also a padded laptop compartment. Also, on the inside of the bag are 5 mesh pockets. Though these do not add any additional space, they are great for organizing. On the outside of the bag, there are six additional pockets and two mesh pockets. These are great for items you might need along the way.
The bag is made from a rugged UV water and weather resistant material. Water resistant and waterproof are not the same thing. Fortunately, like most bags of this quality and price point, it does come with a rain cover that can be slipped over the bag to keep everything nice and dry. If you got caught in a light short shower, you'd probably be fine without the rain cover. If you are planning a long haul trip, I'd would just put and leave the cover on.
We've talked a lot about the capacities of this bag, but just how big is it? Well, the bag measures 12" long, 14" wide and 19" tall. In my opinion, this is a good size bag for a weekend trip for two, or a week long trip for one. For most riders, this bag is plenty big enough as far as capacity without looking ridiculous mounted to the back of a bike.
